The University of St Andrews follows a four-year undergraduate degree system allowing for a flexibility in degree structure. Students are admitted into one of the four Faculties - Arts, Science, Divinity or Medicine. This is different from the 3 year system followed in England. Students must take 3 subjects from faculty they have been admitted to, in the first year. They enjoy the benefits of both flexibility and breadth of education as they are able to pick the subjects of their choice and have the option to change degree during the first 2 years at St Andrews. In year 3 and 4 they specialize in the chosen Single or Joint honors subject(s)
