Duolingo is the world’s most popular way to learn a language. It’s also the most downloaded education app worldwide. Our mission is to make education free and accessible to everyone.

In 2016 we introduced the Duolingo English Test to reduce barriers to higher education by making it easier, more convenient and affordable to certify your English proficiency. It’s a computer-adaptive, online exam that can be taken from home, on-demand. It costs $49, takes less than an hour, and results are available in 48 hours. Each test session is remotely proctored and reviewed by AI and human proctors. The Duolingo English Test is the first high-stakes test to use AI end-to-end, including test creation, administration, scoring, and security.
