Drexel University is a comprehensive global R1 designated research institution that has maintained a reputation for academic excellence since its founding in 1891. The University positions students and faculty on the frontlines of innovation alongside experts tackling today’s most complex issues.

Combining world-class academics and real-world experience, Drexel’s interdisciplinary approach to experiential learning recognizes the importance of both academic and professional preparation. Students at Drexel gain experience in jobs related to their career interests by alternating classroom study with periods of work experience through Drexel’s cooperative education program (Drexel Co-op). Students can participate in up to three different co-ops, enabling them to balance classroom theory with practical, hands-on experience prior to graduation.

With an 11:1 student-to-professor ratio, Drexel is driven by world-renowned faculty from across all disciplines, and students are encouraged to seek opportunities to partner with faculty members or develop independent research projects. In their very first year, students have the option to delve into research with the STAR (Students Tackling Advanced Research) Scholars program, which invites qualified students to participate in faculty-mentored research projects in their chosen fields.

Drexel’s constantly growing campus is located in Philadelphia, one of the nation’s largest cities and only World Heritage City. With over 350 student organizations, there is an opportunity for everyone to get involved at Drexel. Students can also take part in performing arts groups in dance, theater, and music, and become civically engaged in leadership roles at the Lindy Center for Civic Engagement

Drexel brings an international dimension to university life through its academic programs, study and cooperative education abroad, major research projects, global classrooms, conferences, and cultural events. Drexel’s graduates are not only prepared to address the challenges of the future but are also making a difference with a focus on changing the world to be a better place.
